Saba Comprehensive School is the only institution for secondary education on the beautiful island of Saba. For the academic year 2025-2026, the Saba Comprehensive School seeks a teacher for the following combined position:
 
Biology / Integrated Science Teacher (1.0 FTE)
 
Our new colleague must possess a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Biology or a related field and or including a teaching certificate. Experience with or knowledge of the British Caribbean curriculum, CXC, (CCSLC/CSEC/CAPE/CVQ) is preferred, as is experience teaching PrO-students (PraktijkOnderwijs). As an educational professional the applicant must be able to employ and teach 21st century skills, to differentiate and to give the proper holistic care and attention to students in (and outside of) the classroom. You excel in your interpersonal and communication skills, and with this, you will play a crucial role in inspiring students' curiosity and understanding of the natural world, while fostering a love for science.
 
 
What we offer
An appointment by contract, initially for one year, with the prospect to extend the appointment if performance meets the base expectations of the role. Salary scale will be according with the established salary scaling for secondary education on the Dutch BES Islands. Included in the salary are holiday pay and end-of-year bonus, participation in the Caribbean Netherlands Pension Fund (PCN), holiday according to holiday schedule of SCS educational staff, relocation assistance for candidates moving to Saba and professional development opportunities.
 
 
Appointment requirements
- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is mandatory for working in education;
- A medical examination for admission to the pension fund;
- A copy of your obtained diplomas, which you can add to your application;
- If you obtained your diplomas in a country other than the Netherlands and/or the former Netherlands Antilles, we also request that you have your diplomas assessed by the Dutch Service for Execution of Education (DUO).
